Heat-killed Sterilized Lactococcus lactis H61
Functional Food Supplement for Human Use

What is Lactococcus lactis?

L. lactis species have been used in food processing for a long time, especially as a “milk fermenting seed bacterium” when making dairy products such as cheese sour cream and butter. Other uses that have been reported for this bacterium include the production of pickled vegetables, beer or wine, some breads, and other fermented foodstuffs like soymilk kefir, buttermilk, and others.

L. lactis cells are cocci that group in pairs and short chains. They have a homofermentative metabolism, meaning they produce lactic acid from sugars. L. lactis has generally recognized as safe (GRAS) status.

National Agriculture and Food Research Organization Japan (NARO Japan) has isolated L. lactis H61 as their own strain, and TOA Biopharma has been authorized to promote and sell solely by manufacturing it at TOA’s own factory credited with pharmaceutical GMP standard.

What is "Ferritin"?

Ferritin is a universal intracellular protein that stores iron and releases it in a controlled fashion. The protein is produced by almost all living organisms, including archaea, bacteria, algae, higher plants, and animals. It is the primary intracellular iron-storage protein in both prokaryotes and eukaryotes, keeping iron in a soluble and non-toxic form. In humans, it acts as a buffer against iron deficiency and iron overload.
